Fantastic Foods – August

With so many delicious Manitoba products to choose from, it can be tough to pick a new one to try. So every month, we are featuring a few of our current favourites and how we like to enjoy them – bon appétit!

Tall Grass Prairie Bread CompanyCinnamon Buns: There’s almost no point in writing about these amazing buns – everyone who has tried them loves them, and they’ve basically reached legendary status. Part of what makes Tall Grass’s version so amazing is that there’s no icing and they’re made with stone-ground whole wheat flour, meaning the deliciousness comes purely from quality baking and classic cinnamon. A trip to the Forks isn’t complete without picking one (or 6) up, and living close to the Wolseley location is a true test of willpower!

Green Bean Coffee ImportsBolivian Medium Roast: For Saturday morning regulars of St. Norbert Farmers Market, it’s not uncommon to peruse the vendors with a cup of coffee in hand; chances are it’s Green Bean coffee they’re carrying, thanks to the convenient coffee booth! While their great brew certainly adds to the market experience, it’s highly recommended to take some of their beans home for yourself. The company is built on a foundation of roasting organic, fairly traded beans right here in Manitoba, then packaging and distributing through environmentally friendly means – they even use compostable packaging and make deliveries in a Prius!
